Curated by Sandra Cerisola, Todo Es Perfecto not only focuses on the relationship between art and design, but presents objects that exist within intermediate and hybrid design disciplines that include – comics, sound art, public art, fashion, craft, instruction.
Conscious interface between art and design has roots in Russian Constructivism and other vanguards of the twentieth century such as De Stijl or Bauhaus. Responding to new forms of production at the time, they raised their practices to travel between the then autonomous sphere of art and production, industrial design and other areas. The late 90s gave way to the discussion on the relationship between art and design, giving rise to the term designart that vaguely includes any work of art blended with architecture, product design, furniture, or graphic design.
The exhibition points to modern utopias generated by movements that have now been integrated as pillars and foundations for artistic practices, premises and ideals that imply the inclusion of art in everyday life – mainly through design. During these periods, the instrumentalization of art began to be validated through the production of utilitarian objects, always with artistic intention and as a way to lay the groundwork for both contemplative and critical reflections, continuously and organically.
