Chella Man is a Brooklyn based artist and a recent 2021 Mentor at the SIlver Art Projects in the World Trade Center. Man is a 22 year old Deaf, Genderqueer, Trans-Masculine, Jewish and Chinese artist. In Man’s tender painting titled Vineeta the subject is Vinny, Man’s best friend whom he has known since eighth grade. Their journey started out slowly, later to become family over the years as they grew into their new lives together.
Vineeta is a single painting that represents the care Vinny has learned to hold for themselves as well as the care Man holds for Vinny. This work is intentionally unfinished symbolizing the fact that Vinny’s journey is far from over.
