anonymous gallery is happy to announce Anonymous Film Club (AFC); the continuation of a project that features powerful films highlighting various artists, cultural personas, and artistic movements.
Showcased films are typically selected by, and presided over by, recognized artists, curators or filmmakers. Presentations typically include the screening of documentaries, short films, or feature films; while others might involve additional narrative, installation, performance, sound or musical presentations. The films are typically followed by a short Q&A with the individuals that selected the film, and sometimes in addition to those who helped bring the pictures to life
anonymous plans to reinstate AFC programming at the gallery in New York @ 136 Baxter Street and will later partner with local movie forums
The relaunch will begin with a presentation of the film The Store by Director: Frederick Wiseman. The film was selected by the artist Elliot Reed, who will be present to discuss the film at the conclusion of the screening. Please join us April 9, starting at 6pm for popcorn, film and conversations.
