SHELTER SERRA – Grey Area x Helmut Lang
GREY AREA announced a collaboration with global fashion brand Helmut Lang. The project features a capsule of GREY AREA for HELMUT LANG Goods and sculptural installations by New York based artist Shelter Serra.
For this series Shelter has cast vintage car engines that have come to define the American car culture of the late 1960’s and 1970’s to create 17 custom sculptures for Helmut Lang’s stores in New York, LA and London. The nephew of American minimalist sculptor Richard Serra, Shelter is well known for his cast-silicone sculptures, including Fake Roley, Homemade Birkin bag, and Black Amex Card. He looks to explore a sculptural practice of casting everyday objects in unique materials to replicate archetypes of our culture.

The event will also present the release of our 4th signature Haze x G-SHOCK watch model,
as the first release of the brand’s 30th anniversary series.

in dialog with BACA Laureate 2012 award winning artist Mary Heilmann.
ERIC HAZE – Nike + 2012 Olymics
Eric Haze recently developed a project with Nike in honor of the 2012 Olympics
Components of the project included creating a modular painting system, originally based on a flag, which also took it’s cues from a number of historical symbols from basketball, track and field.
Original artworks, murals, video and a window window installation can be seen at the 21 Mercer St. store.

The Andy Kessler Foundation will be holding a benefit art auction @ Picturefarmpro gallery in Williamsburg this Thursday night – May 31, 2012
The Foundation was set up to carry on the spirit and civic minded programs of NY Skate Pioneer Andy Kessler, who passed away prematurely in a freak surfing accident in 2008.
A number of Andy’s close friends, several artists from the Anonymous Gallery family and community have contributed art to help fund the foundation. The annual Andy Kessler Day skate jam will also be held this following Saturday at the House of Vans space in Brooklyn.

Greg Lamarche and Anonymous Gallery collaborated to produce Greg’s limited edition Krylon box. The edition of 20 + 5 artist proofs is a celebration of pure graffiti aesthetics and the simplicity of the memorable Krylon spray paint logo. With this classic graphic from the 1980s the Krylon box gets the full on pop art treatment as well as pays homage to the iconic Andy Warhol Brillo boxes. Just as Warhol famously recognized consumer objects as the most elemental creations of our society, Greg Lamarche, refuses to separate fine art and commerce.
